Technical access and indexing

Indexing permission

This check finds noindex and none directives that prevent a page from entering a search index.

01

What is measured

The audit reads both the robots meta tag and the X-Robots-Tag response header. A directive at either layer counts as an indexing block.

02

Pass criterion

A public search landing page has no noindex directive, while utility and personalised URLs are intentionally excluded.

03

What to fix

Remove noindex from canonical pages after launch review; keep token reports, admin pages and technical responses closed.

04

Automation limit

The absence of noindex permits indexing but does not guarantee it; search engines still evaluate access, canonicalisation and quality.
